Organist

Harvey is a versatile musician: as a liturgical organist he has accompanied a variety of Cathedral and Church choirs across the United Kingdom and abroad.

"I've known Harvey since he joined Junior RNCM in 2016 and have watched him become a very accomplished organist indeed. Organ Scholarships at Blackburn and Coventry Cathedrals with outstanding degree studies and tuition at RBC in the past 4 years have made Harvey a very versatile soloist and accompanist indeed.

Basically, book him for your service or concert, you will be very impressed."

Simon Mercer, Head of Organ at Junior RNCM

During his time at as organ scholar at Blackburn Cathedral he played for choral services sung by the Youth choir, Consort and occasionally the Cathedral choir. Alongside these duties he played the organ for Blackburn Music Society’s performance of Karl Jenkins ‘The armed man’ with the Blackburn and Darwen Brass Band. Harvey was a répétiteur for the Cathedral outreach project ‘Sing Together’. This involved going into schools giving workshops to pupils preparing them for a celebratory joint school’s concert.

Subsequently Harvey joined the music department at Coventry Cathedral as Organ Scholar. He was responsible for the regular accompanying of the Cathedral Choir due to the absence of an Assistant Director of Music. Due to this he was given the opportunity to play for high profile services including the festivals of Christmas and Easter. One notable occasion was having the honour of playing in the presence of King Charles III and Queen Consort for their visit commemorating the anniversary of the Cathedrals concentration, the memorial service for HRH Duke of Edinburgh, the many Diocesan services. Harvey also accompanied the Cathedral Choristers for the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire radio broadcast of ‘A celebration of carols’ (Christmas day 2020).

Harvey has also played for visiting choirs’ weekend choral services including at Southwark Cathedral with the Beaufort Chorale, directed by David Halstead.

He has played a large part in many parish churches in Lancashire and the Birmingham Diocese assisting in the playing of their Eucharist, Choral Evensong services and special occasions such as weddings and funerals. Whilst studying at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Harvey has accompanied the Consort and Camerata choirs for concerts at St Albans’ Highgate and for the annual University carol service at Birmingham Cathedral.
